Job summary

VisionPath CFO seeks a Fractional CFO (Strategy-focused) to partner with owner-led businesses remotely across the US. You’ll translate complex numbers into actionable plans, coach executives, and shape financial strategy across the organization while maintaining strong relationships.

This 1099 role offers flexible, contractor-friendly terms, no BD, and onboarding support. Candidates should have 10+ years CFO leadership, deep experience with financial modeling, M&A or capital structure, and

Qualifications

• 10+ years of senior finance leadership, including CFO experience in a corporate setting.
• Direct experience with owner-led businesses under $50 million in revenue.
• Direct experience building financial models for strategic decisions.
• M&A, capital structure, or exit advisory experience.
• Able to explain financial concepts to non-finance owners.

Responsibilities

• Own the client relationship as their primary finance strategic partner and build trust with owners.
• Set a regular communication rhythm and stay engaged between deliverables.
• Act as advisor and educator, translating numbers into clear actions.
• Tailor communication to each client and offer coaching or direct recommendations.
• Collaborate with leadership across the client's organization and with external parties.
• Develop financial models to support pricing, contracts, and growth decisions.
• Architect reporting and metrics to monitor business performance and outcomes.
• Lead conversations about difficult truths while maintaining client trust.
• Shadow VisionPath CFO team and integrate into weekly CEO touch-bases.
• Adapt to evolving client needs and take on strategic initiatives.
