Job summary

Public Library of Science is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to translate complex financial data for executive leadership and drive annual budgets and forecasts. The role emphasizes variance analysis, scenario planning, and data-driven decision support in a fully remote environment.

Candidates should have 4–7 years of FP&A/Finance experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with planning systems. Remote work with international coverage is offered, including the UK and certain US states.

Qualifications

• Understanding of FP&A principles and budgeting processes
• Knowledge of GAAP and general ledger structures
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Experience with budgeting and planning systems
• Strong business judgment and prioritization
• Excellent communication of financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 4–7 years of progressive FP&A/Finance/Accounting experience

Responsibilities

• Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis and highlight risks and opportunities
• Prepare and present clear dashboards and commentary for executives
• Drive process improvements across budgeting and reporting processes
• Build and maintain financial models and support scenario planning
• Ensure data integrity in all reports and dashboards
• Partner with stakeholders to validate financial and operational information
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests as needed
