Job summary

LiveKit is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customer engineering teams and shape real-time audio, video, and AI applications on our developer platform. You will blend hands-on engineering with technical advisory to move customers from experiments to production-ready deployments.

The role involves designing scalable architectures, building prototype integrations, and leading workshops while contributing to open-source efforts and platform improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Proficiency in one or more languages such as Go, Python, Node, Rust, or C++.
• Comfort with APIs, SDKs, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customer engineering teams to design and implement production-grade real-time audio, video, and AI applications.
• Architect scalable solutions for voice AI, real-time media, and developer platform use cases.
• Build prototype integrations, reference implementations, and sample apps to accelerate customer development.
• Debug and resolve complex technical issues across SDKs, APIs, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines in customer environments.
• Lead technical workshops and architecture sessions, acting as a trusted advisor through launch and scale.
• Translate recurring customer patterns into insights to inform platform, documentation, and tooling improvements, occasionally contributing code or examples to open-source.
