Job summary

Rimkus Consulting Group is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to join our forensic group in Minnesota. You will perform mechanical engineering investigations, analyze incidents, and prepare reports and expert opinions for deposition and trial.

The role requires at least 5 years of experience, a BS in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, FE, and PE licensure or progression toward it. Travel up to 25% and a salaried schedule with flexible hours are available, with opportunities for

Qualifications

• High-level analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact with clients (internal and external).
• Ability to research and apply scientific principles to cases.
• Strong reading and writing of expert reports and proposals.

Responsibilities

• Performs forensic assignments within mechanical engineering per scope and budget.
• Investigates incident causes and whether mechanical failure occurred.
• Inspects sites/equipment; analyzes equipment and provides sketches.
• Conducts analyses of equipment, incidents, product failure, and materials.
• Prepares oral and written reports detailing findings and remediation steps.
• Determines expert opinions and provides testimony in deposition/trial as required.
• Manages multiple projects and coordinates with other experts as needed.
• Uses formulas, tools, and industry standards to analyze issues.
• Initiates and maintains client relationships.
• Captures technical photos and documents on-site conditions.
