Job summary

Rimkus seeks a Mechanical Engineer with extensive forensic experience to perform failure analyses and provide expert guidance for insurance, legal, industrial, and client projects. You will examine incidents, identify root causes, and document findings with CAD drawings, data analysis, and robust reporting.

Responsibilities include site inspections, data retrieval, 3D documentation, and maintaining strong client relationships. A BS in Mechanical Engineering is required, with PhD or P.E.

Qualifications

• Must have a high level of analytical skill and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact and communicate with clients at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer-assisted engineering/design software.
• Ability to read and interpret scientific/technical reports, financials, and legal documents.
• Strong written communication for scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and reports.

Responsibilities

• Performs failure analysis for forensic assignments within mechanical engineering scope.
• Investigates origin, failure mechanism, and root cause of incidents.
• Inspects sites/equipment and conducts data retrieval and 3D documentation.
• Reviews codes, standards, drawings, and manuals to evaluate compliance.
• Conducts analyses including industrial safety, machinery design, and product liability.
• Supports fire and explosion investigations involving mechanical systems.
• Maintains client relationships and communication.
