Job summary

Rimkus is seeking a mechanical engineer with forensic expertise to perform failure analyses for insurance, legal, and industrial cases. You will inspect sites and equipment, conduct 3D documentation, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a P.E., and 2-10+ years of applicable experience. Remote in select US territories; occasional travel may apply.

Qualifications

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree or higher.
• P.E. required.
• 2-10+ years of experience, including knowledge of products, machine design, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and/or other mechanical equipment/systems/processes.

Responsibilities

• Performs failure analysis for forensic assignments within mechanical engineering scope.
• Investigates how and why an incident occurred, including origin, failure mechanism, and root cause.
• Inspects sites/products/equipment; analyzes data; documents conditions and determines cause of damage.
• Reviews codes, standards, drawings, and manuals to evaluate design and maintenance compliance.
• Conducts analyses including industrial safety and accidents, equipment design, product liability, and safety.
• Provides support on fire and explosion investigations involving mechanical systems.
• Initiates, develops, and maintains client relationships.
