Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in the Developer Infrastructure group to own core CI/build systems and deployment orchestration. You will drive cross-team alignment, define roadmaps, and lead large-scale platform migrations, improving build times and reliability across thousands of engineers.

You will mentor engineers, lead by example with hands-on coding, and shape technical strategy while collaborating with leadership to deliver scalable, robust tools used by Coinbase-wide

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems.
• Hands-on proficiency in Go or a comparable systems language and CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on cross-team initiatives and architectural direction.
• Deep operational expertise with production systems emphasizing reliability, observability, and fast recovery.

Responsibilities

• Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, across the full lifecycle from design through production operation.
• Identify the group’s highest-leverage problems, translate ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps, and drive alignment across teams.
• Drive improvements to build time, deploy speed and safety, and developer feedback latency.
• Lead cross-cutting initiatives end to end, including large-scale platform migrations.
• Raise the reliability bar for developer infrastructure by owning SLOs, observability, and on-call procedures.
• Partner with engineering customers, EMs, and leadership to shape technical strategy and mentor engineers.
