Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Layer to shape the API platform (GraphQL) that connects client applications to backend services. You will own systems routing API requests at scale and improve reliability, performance, and developer experience across Consumer, Base, and Institutional products.

You will design and build high-reliability backend systems, own end-to-end projects, and mentor engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Proficiency in backend languages (Go, Java) and microservices design.
• Experience delivering end-to-end projects in reliability- and performance-driven environments.
• Ability to decompose complex systems into clean APIs used by multiple teams.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with frontend, product, and platform teams.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver projects end to end, from scoping and design through implementation and production validation.
• Design high-reliability, low-latency systems serving millions of users.
• Build and improve the API framework and tooling used by engineers across the company.
• Drive operational excellence across critical services, manage SLOs, observability, and incident response.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to design API schemas and support launches.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural direction.
