Job summary

Bankjoy, a US-headquartered fintech with a Canadian entity, seeks a hands-on Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting for multiple entities. Reporting to the COO, you will manage AR, AP, US sales tax, and the annual audit as the sole accountant in the business.

You will pull numbers from Salesforce and signed contracts, then work directly with the deal owner to finalize billing decisions. Autonomy and documented processes are key to success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with full ownership of a month-end close.
• Hands-on US multi-state sales tax experience: nexus determinations, filings, exemptions.
• Working knowledge of Avalara or similar tax engine integrated with billing.
• US GAAP revenue recognition under ASC 606 for multi-element SaaS contracts.
• Experience in multi-entity environments with cross-border operations and foreign currency translation.
• Experience owning or supporting external financial statement audits.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and billing platforms; Salesforce a plus.
• Able to pull data from CRM and signed contracts without supervision.
• CPA (Canada or US) or equivalent.
• SaaS/fintech experience; credit unions/banks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end monthly billing cycle for SaaS subscriptions, implementation fees, expansions, and passthroughs.
• Interpret signed contracts for correct billing, including minimums and escalators.
• Source billing inputs independently from Salesforce and contract files.
• Reconcile vendor invoices against amounts billed; investigate variances.
• Own AR collections: aging reviews and client follow-ups.
• Prepare invoices for COO review and release.
• Own AP intake, vendor coding, and payment runs for COO approval.
• Maintain AP current to avoid vendor disruptions.
• Own US multi-state sales tax filings and Avalara administration.
• Coordinate tax filings for Canadian corporate tax and US/State taxes.
• Own full month-end close across US parent, Canadian entity, and subsidiary.
• Maintain schedules for deferred revenue, amortization, accruals; allocate payroll.
• Produce monthly KPI package for the board.
• Serve as primary contact for annual external audit.
• Develop and maintain process documentation for recurring cycles.
• Identify and fix recurring error sources; drive system/workflow improvements.
