Job summary

CoVet is seeking a talented Back-end Developer to design, build, and scale our veterinary AI copilot platform. You will work on Google Cloud Platform and Firebase, implement Node.js-based server-side logic, optimize Firestore data models, and create robust APIs and integrations.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features end-to-end, own deployments, and continuously improve system performance, security, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend development experience with Node.js.
• Experience with serverless architectures (Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, etc.).
• Strong Google Cloud Platform experience, especially Firebase and Firestore.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, and integration workflows.
• Experience in database design, indexing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• Active use of AI tools to design and implement end-to-end features and improve system design.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend infrastructure on GCP and Firebase.
• Build server-side logic using Node.js and Cloud Functions.
• Model, manage, and optimize Firestore databases for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, product, and design to deliver features end-to-end.
• Define scalable technical solutions with product partners.
• Coordinate deployments and ensure smooth backend/frontend delivery.
• Monitor, debug, and improve system reliability and error handling.
• Contribute to engineering practices, tooling, and development velocity.
