Job summary

National Fire Experts is seeking a Part-Time Fire Investigator to join our team in Topeka, KS. The role focuses on studying fire and explosion scenes, determining causes and origins, and delivering clear written reports.

You may be required to testify in court and travel up to 100 miles from the office as needed. The ideal candidate holds CFEI or CFI certification (preferred), is eligible for a Private Investigator License within 60 days, and has 2+ years of investigative experience.

Qualifications

• CFEI/CFI certification preferred or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to obtain Private Investigator License within 60 days if not currently held.
• Familiarity with NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 is required or highly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on fire origin and cause investigations experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely field visits to loss sites for cause and origin investigations.
• Provide unbiased analysis and consultation on fires and explosions.
• Prepare detailed, accurate reports in accordance with company guidelines.
• Travel within a 100-mile radius from assigned office; occasional overnight travel.
• Interact with clients and convey project timelines and updates.
• Provide expert testimony or depositions as needed and defend opinions in court.
