Job summary

EFI Global in the Portland/Seattle area seeks an experienced Fire Investigator for a full-time, remote role to support complex origin-and-cause investigations. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide clients with reliable, unbiased conclusions.

Ideal candidates hold CFEI/IAAI-CFI credentials, a Bachelor’s degree, and 3 years of experience, with strong communication, analytical and investigative skills. Independent work and teamwork are valued in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; professional certifications strengthen application.
• Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) required or considered for role.
• IAAI-CFI certification preferred; plan to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Accepts assignments and pursues investigations per client needs.
• Determines origin and cause; identifies third-party responsibility for subrogation potential.
• Maintains client reporting per EFI procedures; delivers timely findings.
• Markets EFI services within assigned territory and to clients.
• Liaisons between insurance industry and fire service personnel; coordinates with investigators.
• Investigates losses with fraud/subrogation aspects as assigned by client/attorney.
• Interviews witnesses and reviews public records for investigation scope.
• Keeps up-to-date on laws governing privacy and public records access.
