Job summary

EFI Global, a leading engineering and forensic investigation firm, seeks an experienced Fire Investigator based in the greater Portland, OR region to support origin-and-cause investigations in a full-time, remote role. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide unbiased, defensible findings, interview witnesses, review records, and communicate results clearly.

IA​AI‑CFI certification is strongly preferred, with CFEI and IAAI‑CFI required within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
• Minimum certification: Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI).
• IAAI-CFI certification preferred; must obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Three years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate origin and cause of losses/claims and identify third‑party responsibility.
• Accept assignments and conduct investigations per client needs.
• Maintain required client reporting and documentation.
• Interviews witnesses or involved persons to collect information.
• Review records (public records, land deeds, liens, etc.) to support findings.
• Travel as required and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver defensible conclusions.
