Job summary

BenchPrep is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to join our remote finance team. You’ll maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure GAAP compliance while supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements.

Strong accounting and data analysis skills are essential, with attention to detail and clear communication across teams. The role includes reconciliations, journal entries, revenue recognition review, and year-end tax schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• 3–5 years (Staff Accountant) or 5–8 (Sr Accountant) years in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred.
• Team player with a positive attitude toward contributing and learning.
• Thorough knowledge of financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Self-starter, quick learner, and multitask on a regular basis.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including account reconciliations, journal entries, AR, AP, and Billing.
• Analyze and review expenditures, allocating expenses to departments and reporting to them as needed.
• Review transactions for GAAP compliance with company policies.
• Analyze billing transactions to ensure revenue recognition policies are applied.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly journal entries including accruals.
• Assist in building financial statements and budget variance analysis.
• Assist in designing and preparing budgets for management review.
• Prepare year-end schedules for annual tax returns.
• Seek process improvements in accounting procedures.
