Job summary

The Conservation Alliance seeks a Sr. Manager of Finance and Operations, a remote, US-based leadership role reporting to the Executive Director. You will own budgeting, financial planning, reporting, audits, and cash management, while guiding operations, risk, and governance across the nonprofit.

This role collaborates with development, program staff, and external partners, oversees vendor relationships, and helps steer organizational strategy in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in the field.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, operations, or related functions.
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and financial management.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls.
• Experience coordinating audits, tax filings, compliance, and external financial professionals.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for non-financial audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and long-term sustainability efforts.
• Prepare accurate financial reports for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.
• Monitor financial performance, cash flow, revenue, expenses, reserves, and investments; identify risks and opportunities.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational decisions.
• Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, general ledger, and monthly and year-end close.
• Manage banking relationships, payments, cash management, and financial controls.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, and financial service providers.
• Oversee annual audits, tax filings, and financial compliance requirements.
• Track and report restricted and unrestricted funds, including grant budgets and expenditures.
• Manage membership dues invoicing and other organizational billing.
• Collaborate with development and program staff on grant reporting and financial planning.
• Coordinate with external HR providers on payroll, benefits, insurance, and related financial matters.
