Job summary

Advocate Health is offering a remote Finance internship for students pursuing Finance, Accounting, or related fields. The program runs May 31, 2027 through August 6, 2027, with a 40-hour workweek during Monday–Friday business hours.

Interns must be currently enrolled as juniors or seniors with a GPA of at least 2.5 and strong Excel skills. The internship provides exposure to cost accounting, budgeting, revenue cycle tasks, and data analysis across Advocate Health and affiliates, with mentoring

Qualifications

• Current enrollment with junior or senior status at a regional accredited college or university. Interns are expected to be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree.
• GPA of at least 2.5.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration.

• Proficiency with Excel and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Use Excel to develop automated processes and reduce manual work.
• Review, analyze, and investigate discrepancies in charges and implement necessary changes.
• Prepare financial and statistical analyses and manipulate data for trend calculations.
• Contribute to cost accounting standards and budgeting analyses and variance tracking.
• Develop pricing procedures using costing methodologies and market data.
• Assist with operating and capital budgets and monitoring.
• Support budgeting, finance, cost accounting, and reporting activities.
• Apply government program rules and reimbursement mechanisms to financial activities.
• Assist with charge reconciliation and revenue cycle projects.
• Track and update reports and perform related administrative duties.
• Contribute to program development and process improvements.
• Investigate internal financial reporting questions to ensure accurate recording.
