Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Finance/Accounting internship for summer 2027. The remote position offers up to 40 hours per week, with a May 31, 2027–August 6, 2027 schedule. Interns will use Excel to automate processes, review charges, and support budgeting and revenue cycle projects.

Applicants must be enrolled in related degree programs with a 2.5+ GPA and strong communication skills. No prior experience required.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in a finance, accounting, or related program.
GPA of at least 2.5.
Strong Excel skills and data handling capabilities.
Good written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to multitask and collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

Utilize Excel to develop automated processes to minimize manual work.
Review and analyze discrepancies in charges and assist in changes for professional and hospital charges.
Prepare financial and statistical analyses and manipulate data for trend calculations.
Contribute to cost accounting standards, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Assist with pricing, market analysis, and government program rules for financial activities.
Support budgeting and financial reporting activities and internal controls.
Participate in revenue cycle projects such as cash posting and insurance follow up.
Track reports and assist with administrative duties as needed.
