Job summary

Advocate Health is offering a remote internship for students pursuing finance, accounting, or business analytics. The internship runs May 31, 2027 to August 6, 2027, with up to 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri during business hours.

The role focuses on financial analysis, cost accounting, budgeting, and revenue cycle support within Advocate Health and its affiliates. Applicants should be enrolled as a junior or senior and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment as a junior or senior in a regional accredited college or university.
• GPA of at least 2.5.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to complete tasks successfully.
• Teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Proficient with Excel and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated Excel processes to minimize manual work.
• Review and analyze discrepancies in charges and implement necessary changes.
• Prepare financial and statistical analyses for Advocate Health and affiliates and manipulate data for trends.
• Contribute to cost accounting and budgeting standards and perform variance analysis.
• Assist in pricing using costing methodologies and market data.
• Support preparation and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.
• Provide support to budgeting, finance, cost accounting and reporting teams.
• Apply government program rules and reimbursement info to financial activities.
• Assist with charge reconciliation in billing or review systems.
• Support revenue cycle projects and cash posting, insurance follow-up, coding accuracy.
• Track and update reports as needed.
• Handle administrative duties and support staff meetings.
• Possibly participate in program/process development.
• Assist with internal financial reporting questions to ensure compliance.
