Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Finance/Accounting internship for the May 31, 2027–August 6, 2027 period. The role is remote (work from home) with eligibility limited to certain states including SC, and a 40-hour workweek during business hours.

You will support revenue cycle, cost accounting, budgeting and data analysis tasks in a dynamic health system. The position requires current enrollment in finance- or analytics-related studies, a 2.5+ GPA, and strong Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Management or a related field with junior or senior standing.
• GPA of at least 2.5.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks.
• Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Use Excel to develop automated processes to minimize manual work.
• Review, analyze, and investigate charge discrepancies and implement changes.
• Prepare financial and statistical analysis and manipulate data for trends.
• Develop cost accounting standards and perform variance analyses.
• Develop procedural prices using costing methods and market data.
• Prepare and monitor operating and capital budgets.
• Provide support for budgeting, cost accounting and reporting.
• Apply government program rules and managed care payment mechanisms.
• Assist with charge reconciliation in billing systems.
• Assist revenue cycle projects and related areas.
• Track and update reports as needed.
• Handle administrative duties and support meetings.
• Participate in program/process or application development.
• Investigate internal financial reporting questions to ensure accuracy.
