Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Finance/Accounting intern to support the revenue cycle and cost accounting team. You will work remotely, using Excel to automate processes, review charges, and assist in financial analysis and budgeting.

Applicants must be enrolled in a finance, accounting, or business analytics degree with a 2.5+ GPA and strong communication skills. The internship runs May 31, 2027–August 6, 2027, with up to 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Management or related field with junior or senior standing.
• GPA of at least 2.5.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated processes in Excel to minimize manual work.
• Review, analyze, and investigate discrepancies in charges and implement changes.
• Assist in preparing financial and statistical analyses for Advocate Health and affiliates.
• Extract and manipulate data to perform trend calculations and measure performance.
• Participate in cost accounting standards and variance analysis for budgeting.
• Develop procedural pricing using costing methodologies and market data.
• Prepare and monitor operating and capital budgets.
• Support budgeting, finance, cost accounting, and reporting activities.
• Apply government program rules and payment mechanisms to financial activities.
• Assist with charge reconciliation and revenue cycle projects.
