Kauffman and Associates, Inc. seeks a Director of Finance / Controller to lead the Finance & Accounting function in a remote, home-based role. The position oversees month-end close, financial reporting, cost accounting for government contracts, and internal controls, reporting to the COO.

CPA and 10+ years in finance are highly valued. The role requires collaboration with project managers, contracts staff, and executives to drive strategy, pricing, and audit readiness while ensuring compliant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification preferred; strong leadership and GAAP knowledge.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible finance/accounting experience; cost accounting for government contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting staff responsible for AP, AR, payroll, and GL activities.
• Own monthly/quarterly/year-end close with accurate financial statements.
• Maintain internal controls, policies, and audit readiness for government contracts.
• Oversee contract billing, revenue recognition, and project profitability reporting.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and forecasting for leadership.
