Job summary

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. seeks a Manager, Field Systems Engineering to lead on-site systems engineering, installation, and testing for satellite IP hardware and software solutions.

You will deploy, commission, monitor, and troubleshoot customer networks, serving as a senior escalation point for complex issues. The role requires strong customer-facing and troubleshooting skills, with on-call availability and collaboration across engineering, product, and sales teams.

Qualifications

• Networking & IP protocols, TCP/IP, UDP, QoS, SNMP, HTTP, IPsec; Wireshark & SNMP tools.
• Satellite earth stations, VSAT systems, RF systems incl. HPA/BUC, LNA/LNB.
• LAN/WAN infrastructure, switches/routers/firewalls, Windows & Linux.
• Experience with lab verification, testing, and issue troubleshooting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; technical reporting.
• Relational databases: MS SQL & MySQL.
• Collaborative cross-functional work with engineering, sales, and support.
• Customer-facing field engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert systems engineering, installation, integration, and testing support; travel to customer sites.
• Act as primary technical escalation point for hardware/software issues; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Lead hardware/software verification and testing; develop test plans and reports.
• Support customer meetings, network design, and professional services; coordinate with Sales Engineering/TAC.
• Maintain engineering lab: inventory, configs, documentation, lab readiness.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to support teams; document resolutions.
