Job summary

Peraton seeks a Field Services Technician – Junior to support installation, transition, and sustainment of next‑gen Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems in customer environments. You will assist with site prep, installation, cutovers, testing, and decommissioning while learning from senior staff.

The role emphasizes hands-on experience with mission-critical voice systems, troubleshooting, and documenting deployments. Extensive travel is required as part of field deployments.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.
• AS in a related field; BS/MS not required.
• Familiarity with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems and telecom tech.
• Experience with system cutovers, migrations, installations, or refresh efforts preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecom infra, VoIP, cabling, power validation, and networked voice systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Support site surveys, preparation, equipment installation, and deployment under supervision.
• Assist with VCS cutovers from legacy systems.
• Support decommissioning of legacy voice systems.
• Perform basic system testing and validation of power, cabling, and connectivity.
• Assist maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VCS/telecom/IT infrastructure.
• Document work, issues, and resolutions; maintain installation records and reports.
• Learn safety, site security, and operational procedures; collaborate with technicians and engineers.
• Escalate complex issues and assist with troubleshooting and resolution.
