Job summary

Wabtec Corporation seeks a technically skilled Field Service Technician to support railcar systems across sites. You will understand door, brake, HVAC and pantograph systems and assist in debugging, commissioning and warranty phases.

The role requires hands-on capability, strong PC skills, and the ability to work with limited supervision at transit authorities or plants. Valid driver’s license and safety SOPs are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical training in both electrical & mechanical systems
• Requires at least 3 years of working as a technician or equivalent
• Knowledge of the rail industry is an asset
• Strong knowledge of PCs / laptops
• Ability to troubleshoot using the laptop as a tool
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel
• Ability to perform software downloads
• Strong mechanical aptitudes

Responsibilities

• Develop a solid understanding of Wabtec systems on cars, including doors, brakes, HVAC and pantograph systems.
• Assist rail car builders with debugging and troubleshooting Wabtec systems as needed.
• Support commissioning and warranty phases at transitAuthority locations and plants.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; verify findings and reproduce problems when possible.
• Identify and isolate defective components and perform repairs or part replacements.
• Operate with integrity, accountability and ability to work unsupervised in transit locations.
