Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Field Technician to deliver and support field service for freight and transit rail systems. You will develop a solid understanding of the door, brake, HVAC, and pantograph systems and act as Wabtec’s representative at rail car builders.

The role requires hands-on technical work, the ability to troubleshoot in transit authority locations, and occasional travel to assembly plants. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Technical training in both electrical & mechanical systems.
• Requires at least 3 years of working as a technician or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the rail industry is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel.
• Ability to perform software downloads.
• Strong mechanical aptitudes.

Responsibilities

• Develop a solid understanding of all Wabtec systems on cars (door, brake, HVAC, pantograph) and apply the door adjustment procedure.
• Assist rail car builders and transit authorities with debugging and troubleshooting Wabtec systems.
• Support during car commissioning and warranty phases at transit authority locations and assembly plants.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and reproduce issues before repairs.
• Identify and isolate defective components and perform repairs or replacements.
