Job summary

John Zink Company, a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) company, is seeking a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers across the Southern California region. You will be the technical expert in the field, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems at customer sites from your home office.

This remote role requires 75%+ regional travel, with occasional national travel.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, GE or similar).
Working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
Willingness to travel 75%+ within the assigned region.
Ability to obtain TWIC within six weeks of employment.
Valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

Travel from home base to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Service electrical, mechanical, and control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, valves, actuators, and emissions monitoring.
Commission, troubleshoot, and modify industrial control systems (PLC logic, PID loops, HMIs).
Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues in live environments.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support urgent customer needs.
Maintain accurate technical documentation, including redlines on drawings and schematics.
Work safely in confined spaces following required safety procedures.
Build strong customer relationships through clear, proactive communication.
