Job summary

John Zink Company, a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) company, is seeking a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers in the Southern California region. In this customer-facing role, you will commission, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems to keep operations safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience diagnosing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, GE).
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
• Ability to read/read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
• Willingness to travel 75%+ within the assigned region; TWIC eligibility expected within six weeks.

Responsibilities

• Travel from home base to customer sites for preventive maintenance, testing, commissioning of industrial equipment.
• Support electrical, mechanical, and control systems including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, valves, actuators, and emissions monitoring systems.
• Commission, troubleshoot, and modify industrial control systems (PLCs, HMIs, PID loops).
• Diagnose electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues in live industrial environments with safe practices.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent customer needs.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including redlines on drawings and schematics.
• Work in confined spaces following safety procedures and communicate clearly with customers.
