Job summary

John Zink Company, a Koch Engineered Solutions (KES) team, seeks a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers across the Southern California region. You will be the technical expert in the field, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems at customer sites.

The role requires 75%+ regional travel from a home base in the Southern California area, with occasional national travel and on-call rotation to meet

Qualifications

Hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, GE or similar).
Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
Willingness to travel 75%+ within the assigned region.
Ability to obtain TWIC within six weeks of employment.
Valid driver's license to operate company vehicle.

Responsibilities

Travel from home base to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
Support electrical, mechanical, and control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, valves, actuators, positioners, and emissions monitoring systems.
Commission, troubleshoot, and modify industrial control systems, including PLC logic, PID loops, HMIs, and devices.
Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues in live environments.
Participate in on-call rotation to support urgent customer needs.
Maintain technical documentation and redlines on drawings and schematics.
Perform work in confined spaces following safety procedures.
Build strong customer relationships through clear, professional communication.
