Job summary

First Point Group is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support for MV/LV switchgear across project sites throughout the United States. The role is remote with extensive travel to customer sites and coordination with installation crews and EPC contractors.

The ideal candidate has hands-on MV/LV experience, NEC knowledge, and the ability to read electrical drawings.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting MV/LV switchgear systems.
• Strong knowledge of circuit breakers, protective relays, bus systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience guiding field installation and providing technical coaching to crews.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform field commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of MV/LV switchgear systems.
• Conduct insulation resistance testing, control circuit verification, relay testing, and system commissioning.
• Diagnose equipment failures and provide corrective actions.
• Provide onsite technical guidance for switchgear installation, cable termination, grounding, and related electrical work.
• Inspect installations and identify deficiencies or non-conformities.
• Recommend and verify corrective actions prior to energization.
