Job summary

Oxford Instruments is seeking a Field Service Engineer for High Volume Manufacturing in Texas. The role involves installation, commission, preventive maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of plasma etch and deposition systems (RIE, CVD, ICP, ALD).

Strong customer engagement and hands-on training are required to ensure uptime and process readiness. Preferred candidates have 3–5 years in semiconductor field service, familiarity with vacuum technologies, RF theory, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field.
Equivalent hands‑on semiconductor equipment service experience accepted.
3–5 years field service in semiconductor industry focusing on plasma etch/deposition.
Familiarity with cleanroom operations and safety protocols.
Experience with vacuum technologies: turbo, cryo, roughing pumps.
Able to read mechanical, electrical and plumbing schematics.

Responsibilities

Install and commission advanced plasma etch and deposition systems ensuring readiness and alignment with customer specs.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance with precise diagnostics and validation against vacuum tolerances.
Engage customers with clear communication and hands-on technical training.
Troubleshoot hardware/software issues using specialized tools and provide remote support to minimize downtime.
Calibrate components and implement system upgrades to improve reliability and throughput.
