Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania seeks a Field Service Engineer to plan and execute installations, tests, and commissioning of high voltage switchgear and GIS substations (69kV–550kV). The role includes preventive maintenance, field tests (SF6, gas analysis, power factor), data analysis, and reporting.

Domestic travel about 80% is required, with telecommuting from any U.S. location possible.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5 years of experience reading complex electrical diagrams in ANSI/IEC standards and performing field tests (SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance).
• 4 years of experience with GIS up to 550 kV including installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• GIS installation and commissioning certification required.
• Willing to travel domestically ~80%.
• Position may telecommute from any location in the U.S. and reports to Mount Pleasant, PA.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute field assignments for installation, modification, testing, commissioning, or repair of HV switchgear.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HV equipment and document field tests.
• Develop recommendations and prepare written reports; maintain detailed logs.
• Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts.
