Job summary

General Motors is seeking Field Service Engineers to provide on-site automotive and business support to GM's retail and wholesale networks. This remote role covers Irvine and Costa Mesa, CA with 50% travel to dealerships.

You will diagnose vehicle issues, guide repairs, support dealer readiness, and collaborate with TAC, Dispatch, and Regional teams to prevent buybacks.

Required hands-on dealership experience, valid driver’s license, MS Office proficiency; relocation and travel benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hands-on Automotive Dealership Service Department, vehicle diagnostic or repair experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to manage, resolve, document, and close dispatch cases on time.
• Experience maintaining customer satisfaction in a multi-location territory.
• Ability to deliver specialized training to dealers.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support to GM retail/wholesale networks.
• Diagnose and direct repairs to mitigate warranty costs.
• Support dealer readiness and review PI bulletins with service personnel.
• Maintain relationships with DMPS, BRM, TAC, and Dispatch teams.
• Lead ad-hoc in-dealership training and share technical information.
• Travel frequently within the assigned territory to dealer locations.
• Relate dealer concerns and drive corrective actions to prevent buybacks.
