Job summary

Oxford Instruments Plc in the Bay Area, CA is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and support advanced microscopy systems across North America. You will travel frequently to customer sites, perform trainings, and ensure systems meet stringent performance criteria.

The role requires a degree in engineering or a related technical field and 3–5 years of field service experience in microscopy, plus strong diagnostics and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related technical field.
• 3–5 years of field service experience in microscopy or analytical instrumentation.
• Ability to travel extensively to customer sites and support installations.

Responsibilities

• Lead system installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing at customer sites.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to meet performance benchmarks.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support and training for customers.
• Diagnose complex hardware/software issues and implement effective solutions.
• Document service actions and contribute to continuous improvement.
