Fiber Analyst
Work Mode: Remote
Contract: 12+ Months
We're looking for an experienced Fiber Engineer to support fiber network testing, troubleshooting, and remediation efforts across ISP and OSP environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OTDR analysis, fiber characterization, bidirectional testing, and fusion splicing, with the ability to identify and resolve fiber-related network issues in both field and lab environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform OTDR testing and analyze results to identify faults, splice loss, bends, and attenuation issues
- Conduct fiber characterization, CD/PMD testing, bidirectional testing, and power/loss testing
- Troubleshoot fiber network performance issues and recommend corrective actions
- Perform fusion splicing, fiber repairs, and remediation activities as needed
- Create and maintain test reports, redline documentation, and demarcation maps
- Collaborate with vendors, project managers, and internal teams to support project delivery
- Travel to customer sites to perform testing, validation, and remediation activities
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Fiber Optics, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Experience working with ISP and OSP fiber networks
- Hands-on expertise with OTDR testing, analysis, and troubleshooting
- Experience with CD/PMD testing, bidirectional testing, and power meter/laser testing
- Knowledge of fusion splicing, fiber restoration, and remediation practices
- Experience with fiber end-face inspection and cleaning procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel as required
