Job summary

CBRE seeks an experienced Senior Technical Consultant specializing in Fiber Optic Infrastructure and Validation to lead evaluation, qualification, and validation of fiber optic solutions. You will bridge engineering teams, manufacturers, and testing bodies, interpreting performance data to guide product readiness and improvements.

The role requires deep knowledge in ISP/OSP deployment, cabling, splicing, and troubleshooting, with a focus on data-driven recommendations and risk-based decision

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of fiber optic industry experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience in fiber optic manufacturing, telecommunications infrastructure, ISP/OSP deployment, or related technical roles.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cable construction, installation, splicing, termination, and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to interpret OTDR traces, event analysis, and reliability data.
• Excellent communication skills to engage engineers, suppliers, technicians, and stakeholders.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Consultant – Fiber Optic Infrastructure & Validation to provide technical leadership in the evaluation, qualification, and validation of fiber optic technologies and infrastructure solutions.

This role serves as a key liaison between engineering teams, fiber optic manufacturers, suppliers, and testing organizations. The successful candidate will leverage deep industry knowledge to interpret optical performance data, assess product readiness, provide technical recommendations, and support informed engineering decisions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in fiber optics, including ISP/OSP infrastructure, cable manufacturing, deployment, testing, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for fiber optic cable technologies, connectivity solutions, and infrastructure.
• Review and interpret test results to assess product performance, reliability, and deployment readiness.
• Analyze optical performance data, including Insertion Loss (IL), Return Loss (RL), Reflectance, and OTDR measurements.
• Provide recommendations based on validation of findings, field experience, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with fiber optic cable manufacturers and suppliers to review performance, resolve issues, and drive product improvements.
• Support engineering teams through technical reviews, risk assessments, qualification activities, and readiness evaluations.
• Work closely with testing teams to ensure accurate data collection, interpretation, and reporting.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product or process performance.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of fiber optic industry experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience in fiber optic manufacturing, telecommunications infrastructure, ISP/OSP deployment, field engineering, or related technical roles.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cable construction, installation, splicing, termination, and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to interpret:
• OTDR traces and event analysis
• Environmental and mechanical reliability data
• Experience reviewing technical data and providing engineering-based recommendations.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage engineers, suppliers, technicians, and stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or related technical discipline.
• Experience with fiber optic manufacturers such as Corning, CommScope, AFL, Sumitomo, Rosenberger, Prysmian, OFS, or similar organizations.
• Knowledge of IEC, TIA/EIA, and Telcordia standards.
• Experience with MPO/MTP, LC, SC, MMC, and other fiber optic connector technologies.
• Background in product qualification, validation, reliability, or supplier quality engineering.
