Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer 2 to splice and test underground fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings. The role supports schedules, maintains splicing records, and trains junior technicians. The position is fully remote with discussion during interview; travel is required.

We require 2+ years in fiber optic fusion splicing, experience with OTDR testing, and ability to splice various fiber types. Safety training and PPE compliance are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience fusion splicing and mechanical connector terminating.
• Able to splice outside plant direct buried fiber.
• Able to splice armored and non‑armored loose tube fiber.
• Able to splice multiple counts up to 96 strands.
• Able to terminate connectors on indoor/outdoor tight buffered fiber.
• Experience using OTDRs for testing; Fluke Versiv and EXFO a plus.
• 2+ years of fiber optic fusion splicing experience.
• Familiar with splicing materials and enclosures; willing to travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in indoor and outdoor settings with precision.
• Diagnose and resolve fiber optic issues to maintain network integrity.
• Analyze test results and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate splicing records, test results, and configurations.
• Train and support entry‑level technicians to meet quality standards.
• Perform maintenance on fiber optic networks and clean fibers/connectors.
• Manage splicing tools and inventory; ensure proper storage and readiness.
• Stay current with fiber optic tech and obtain needed splicing certification.
• Adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
