SMX is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to provide security engineering, compliance, and risk management support for FedRAMP and DoD cloud environments. The role advises partners and customers on security requirements, authorization strategies, and audit readiness while aiding evidence collection and remediation tracking.

This remote position supports a Herndon, VA based team. You will develop and maintain authorization artifacts, automate compliance workflows, and collaborate with Cloud/DevOps

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, CS, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years cybersecurity experience with at least 3 years federal cloud security.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain Secret or higher clearance.
• Experience with AWS/Azure or hybrid cloud, IAM, encryption, logging.
• Experience creating SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and other artifacts.
• Familiar with NIST SP 800-53 Rev.5 and FedRAMP High/Moderate.

Responsabilités

• Provide cybersecurity engineering and compliance support for FedRAMP and DoD cloud environments.
• Advise partners on security requirements, authorization strategies, and audit readiness.
• Develop and maintain authorization documentation (SSPs, SAPs, SARs, POA&Ms).
• Support authorization and reauthorization activities across RMF.
• Automate compliance workflows using GRC platforms, APIs, scripts.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering and DevOps to design and validate controls.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to address findings and support outcomes.
• Support continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and remediation tracking.
• Evaluate tools and data sources for automated validation and reporting.
• Track evolving federal requirements and translate to actions.
