Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to provide security engineering, compliance, and risk management support for cloud-based systems aligned with NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, and DoD IL4–6. The role guides partners and customers through government security requirements while enabling authorization, audit readiness, and continuous monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience with FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD security controls.
• Ability to translate federal requirements into technical controls.
• Experience developing authorization artifacts (SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret or higher clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum five years in federal cloud security engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity engineering and compliance support for FedRAMP and DoD-cloud environments.
• Advise partners and customers on security requirements and authorization strategies.
• Develop and maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and policies.
• Support authorization planning, gap assessments, and remediation.
• Streamline workflows using GRC platforms, APIs, and automation.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering and DevOps to implement controls.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to address findings and support outcomes.
• Support continuous monitoring and evidence collection.
