Job summary

SMX is seeking a federal financial business analyst for the BAS solution, a SAP Analytics Cloud-based planning and reporting tool for federal clients. This 100% remote, full-time role requires building next-gen budgeting capabilities with a cross-disciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in federal financial management, strong data analytics, and stakeholder engagement. Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Public Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics, management or technology consulting, operations analysis or strategic planning.
• Experience working with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-facing consulting environment.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Review policies, data structures, and procedures to assess impacts on financial processes.
• Utilize BI and analytics tools to maximize client data value.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions to improve operations and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to align requirements and delivery.
• Create documentation across all SDLC phases (RTM, FDD, Design Documents, training guides, etc.).
• Develop test plans and business use cases; manage test execution.
