Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Full-time Facility/Hospital Based Inpatient Coding Quality professional for a remote opportunity. The role requires 5 years of expert-level professional or hospital-based coding experience, with advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines, and the ability to analyze trends and ensure compliance.

The position supports enterprise coding quality initiatives, partner with executives and clinicians, and involves travel as needed for audits and training.

Qualifications

• Coding credentials required; 5 years of expert-level professional coding or hospital-based coding experience.
• Experience in revenue cycle processes, health information workflows, and medical record auditing.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Advanced ability to identify coding quality issues and provide improvements.
• Advanced ability to analyze trends and data and present in reports.
• Remote workforce operations experience required.
• Travel exposure and road/weather hazards.
• Operate required job equipment and work in a normal office environment.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements for accurate and compliant coding practices.
• Develop, maintain, and update coding guidance, standard work, and reference materials.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits; track findings and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership and quality initiatives.
• Partner with Integrity Operations, coding leadership, clinicians, and education teams to improve documentation quality.
• Support regulatory, compliance, and AHIMA coding standards.
• Respond to internal inquiries related to coding guidance and audit outcomes.
• Support testing, reporting validation, and workflow updates related to coding quality and compliance.
