Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Principal Exploration Geologist for a fully remote role leading global mineral exploration programs focused on gold and base metals. You will manage greenfield targeting, geological modeling, and project delivery from discovery through resource definition, while coordinating with dispersed teams and stakeholders worldwide.

Requirements include MSc/PhD in Economic Geology, 15+ years of experience, and expertise in Leapfrog Geo/Vulcan, GIS, and remote sensing.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Economic Geology, or a related geoscience.
15+ years of progressive mineral exploration experience with a focus on discovery.
Proven experience identifying and advancing gold and/or base metal deposits.
Expertise in 3D geological modeling software (Leapfrog Geo, Vulcan) and resource estimation techniques.
Strong understanding of geological remote sensing, GIS, and geophysical interpretation.
Ability to work independently and manage complex projects remotely.
Willingness to travel internationally for site visits and stakeholder meetings.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage exploration projects from greenfield targeting through to resource definition.
Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to generate and prioritize exploration targets.
Design and oversee exploration programs, including drilling campaigns (RC, diamond), sampling, and mapping.
Conduct detailed geological modeling and resource estimation using industry-standard software.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and proposals for internal review and external stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with geochemists, geophysicists, and data scientists to integrate diverse datasets.
Manage exploration budgets and timelines effectively.
Conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions and joint venture opportunities.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geologists and exploration teams remotely.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global exploration trends, new technologies, and regulatory environments.
Ensure all exploration activities adhere to best practices in safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct, regardless of location.
