Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Coder for the Emergency Department to ensure accurate coding of facility services (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and proper modifiers. This role requires ED coding experience and ongoing adherence to coding guidelines.

The position offers full-time hours with telecommuting flexibility within the United States. Candidates should have AHIMA/AAPC credentials and strong attention to detail to support high-quality patient care and compliant billing.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential maintained annually.
• 2+ years ICD-10, CPT, facility charging and modifiers experience.
• 2+ years Emergency Room coding experience.
• Windows PC, Excel and EMR systems experience.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10 Codes, CPT and modifiers for facility services per guidelines.
• Query physicians and forms when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager/Director guidance.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
