Job summary

The City of Lawrence is seeking a Coordinator to support equity initiatives across departments and with community partners. The role blends administrative, analytical, and project coordination work to advance inclusive services and programs.

Reporting to the Director of Equity & Inclusion, you will facilitate DEI efforts, engage with diverse communities, and provide timely, equitable responses to resident questions and service requests. A background check will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of DEI-related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between City departments, partners, and underrepresented communities to support equitable service delivery.
• Provide guidance and leadership on DEI initiatives, identify barriers, and develop strategies to improve service delivery.
• Facilitate conversations, trainings, and community engagement to promote inclusion and reduce barriers.
• Prepare reports on equity initiatives and serve as liaison to the LGBTQ+ community.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Communications, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Organizational Development, Ethnic Studies, Diversity Management, or a related field

Two years of related experience in organizational development, training, community engagement, or diversity, equity, and inclusion
