Job summary

The Rural Metro Fire Department is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee compliance with environmental regulations and to promote sustainable practices. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in environmental science and several years of relevant experience, particularly in the air and ground medical transportation sector.

As part of your responsibilities, you will conduct environmental audits, prepare reports, and provide training on environmental policies. Strong project management skills and an understanding of environmental regulation are essential. This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in Southern California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in environmental management, preferably in medical transportation.
• In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations for aviation and emergency medical services.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Certifications in environmental management (e.g., CEM, CHMM) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Serve as the primary contact for environmental regulatory agencies.
• Conduct regular environmental audits for compliance.
• Develop waste management programs, including hazardous waste disposal.
• Develop and maintain spill response plans.
• Provide environmental training to employees.
• Coordinate environmental impact assessments for new projects.
• Prepare required environmental reports for regulatory agencies.
