J.S. Held is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist II to join the Industrial Hygiene & Built Environment practice in Massachusetts.

The role involves leading environmental assessments, hazardous material investigations, indoor air quality evaluations, and remediation oversight across the Northeast, with a mix of fieldwork and client coordination. The candidate will work with industrial hygienists, project managers, and clients, traveling as needed within Massachusetts and the broader

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, hazardous building materials, or related environmental services.
• Experience with asbestos, lead, and mold inspections and sampling; strong regulatory and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental investigations and hazardous building material assessments (asbestos, lead-based paint, mold).
• Perform air, bulk, wipe and surface sampling per regulations and project specs.
• Support IAQ assessments, moisture intrusion investigations, and building condition evaluations.
• Provide on-site oversight of abatement, remediation, and demolition with final inspections and clearance sampling.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and project deliverables; coordinate lab analysis and interpret results.
