Job summary

J.S. Held LLC in Massachusetts seeks an experienced Environmental Scientist II to join our Industrial Hygiene & Built Environment practice. Lead environmental assessments, hazardous material investigations, and IAQ evaluations across diverse facilities in the Northeast.

The role balances fieldwork with project coordination, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff, with travel across MA and the Northeast. Flexible work arrangement and competitive compensation available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, industrial hygiene, hazardous building materials, or related fields.
• Experience conducting asbestos, lead, and mold inspections and sampling.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sampling methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental investigations and hazardous building material assessments.
• Perform air, bulk, wipe, and surface sampling per regulations and best practices.
• Support IAQ assessments and moisture intrusion investigations.
• Provide on-site oversight of abatement, remediation, and demolition projects.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and project deliverables.
• Coordinate laboratory analysis and interpret results for clients.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, AHERA, and MA DEP requirements.
• Maintain project schedules and communicate updates to managers and clients.
• Support proposal efforts and mentor junior staff.
• Promote a strong safety culture across projects.
