Job summary

J.S. Held is seeking a seasoned (Senior) Environmental Scientist / (Senior) Industrial Hygienist for its Industrial Hygiene & Built Environment practice. The role supports complex investigations, regulatory compliance, and client advisory services across the Los Angeles area and beyond.

Remote work options are available per project needs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in environmental consulting, extensive regulatory knowledge, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial hygiene or environmental consulting.
• Experience managing asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and IAQ investigations.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, CDPH regulations and hazardous materials standards.
• Experience leading field investigations and client-facing advisory work.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental investigations, inspections, and monitoring programs for hazards.
• Serve as technical resource for hazardous materials assessments and IAQ evaluations.
• Manage field activities: sampling programs and data interpretation.
• Oversee remediation oversight, QA, and client reporting.
• Mentor junior staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations.
• Develop client relationships and support business development.
