Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our environmental team supporting the Naheola operation in Pennington, AL. This home-based role focuses on strengthening environmental compliance and stewardship with travel to regional facilities as needed.

You will work to ensure robust environmental programs for waste, water, and air, collaborating with internal teams and regulators. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and organization are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Environmental regulatory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with a water, waste, or air compliance focus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental programs for waste, water, and air compliance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and regulatory agencies to meet environmental obligations.
• Develop knowledge of mill processes and their impact on environmental performance.
• Assist with compliance programs including air, water, and waste regulations (e.g., CEMS, LDAR, NPDES, BMP, SPCC).
• Assist with field verifications and inspections and implement mobile inspections.
