Job summary

Thrivent is seeking a Senior Engineering Leader for the Transactions/Payments domain to guide API-driven payment features, vendor partnerships, and enterprise Cloud initiatives. The role reports to Thrivent HQ in Minneapolis, MN, with a flexible telecommute option for a home office anywhere in the United States.

Responsibilities include defining MVP scopes, shaping the product roadmap, and directing cross-functional teams across Digital, Cloud, and Infra groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in MIS/CS/related field plus 8 years of post-baccalaureate experience as software engineer/analyst
• Minimum 3 years managing teams with cross-functional delivery in cloud
• 5+ years in RESTful APIs, Java/J2EE, CI/CD pipelines (SVN, Maven, Jenkins)
• Experience with AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch), serverless, and microservices

Responsibilities

• Define and direct product strategy, MVP scoping and roadmap for Transactions/Payments domain
• Lead architecture, tech stack selection and solution design for payment platforms
• Guide estimations and manage product budgets across design and development cycles
• Collaborate with Digital, Cloud infra, and vendor teams; participate in negotiations
