Job summary

Thrivent Financial is seeking an Engineering Manager in Digital Engineering to lead a team of 5-8 full-stack engineers. The role blends hands-on technical partnership with product management, guiding architecture, code quality, and system design to deliver scalable solutions aligned with business goals.

The manager will set direction, establish operating practices, and coordinate with Product and senior stakeholders to translate compensation and advisor needs into technical outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 6+ years of progressively responsible IT roles including 5+ years in IT discipline such as CRM, portfolio strategy & roadmap development.
• 3+ years of leadership in IT disciplines and 3+ years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction across engineering teams and establish operating practices.
• Collaborate with Product, business leaders and stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Lead design discussions, drive architecture decisions and ensure scalable, high-quality delivery.
• Coach engineers, conduct 1:1s, and develop talent; manage recruitment and team growth.
• Partner with Product Manager on initiatives, epics and roadmaps; align with product goals.
